Differences between a Google Adwords Reseller and a Google Adwords Professional
By Ian Cheow, October 02 2009
Adwords is Google's flagship advertising product. Google Adwords offers pay per click (PPC) advertising and site targeted advertising for both text and banner ads. Today, you can find companies who are Google Adwords resellers. So what is the difference between an Adwords Reseller and an Adwords professional?
Google Adwords Professional or Program (GAP) was designed for individuals or companies who want to manage multiple Adwords client accounts. In order to be a certified professional, you need to meet certain requirements, such as passing an online examination and spending a certain amount of budget for 90 days. Once you have met the requirements, you receive a logo which you can place on your website. When people click on the logo, it will bring them to a status page to certify that the person is a qualified Adwords professional.
On the other hand, a Google Adwords reseller is like a salesperson that is appointed by Google, with monthly or yearly sales quota. A reseller's role is to sell Adwords.
However, you should not mistake them as Google Adwords professional. An Adwords professional's role is leaning more towards strategies to rank your ads higher at lower bid prices, and to increase conversion rates.
Be careful when you meet agencies that play down the importance of Google Adwords professionals because they are the reseller. You should ask them on optimization tips and their strategies to increase conversion rates. If you want to get real results from Adwords, you need to work with the right consultant, not with an Adwords salesperson.
