For today’s “Look who’s talking” series, let’s know more about one of OOm’s most handsome account managers: Tyler Tan! Apart from his looks, he’s also has a strong and dependable personality that makes him an enjoyable person to work with.
I am an Account Manager at OOm, this role comprises of a little bit of everything. Growing an account, effectively communicating the requirement of clients to our campaign strategist, and bringing more value to clients by maximising their returns along the way.
2. If you had 1 million SGD, where will you spend it?
I am rather realistic, so I haven’t really given this question a thorough thought. Most likely take 2 years off work and spend the first 100k on travel. See as much of the world as possible, though I’ve already covered most of the mainstream ones!
Next, 100k on leisure, like shopping – I definitely need to upgrade my wardrobe from the weight I’m gaining…
The remaining cash I would spend on property and furnishing, it’s always good to have some form of investment right? J
3. What three words can be used to describe you?
Confident, Sharp, Private.
4. What are the best and worst purchases you’ve ever made?
The best purchase is always experience. Anything you spend money on gets you a new experience. Such as travel, cooking class, pottery class etc. There is no worst purchase for me; decisions made then will always satisfy a need/want. No point living in regret right?
5. What smartphone feature would you actually be excited for a company to implement?
One that is able to send messages and type with the power of the mind. Saves plenty of time!
6. What skill did you faked ‘til you made it?
None, I don’t believe in faking, it’s extremely exhausting. I am pretty much a “what you see is what you get” kind of person. Although I can be perceived as rather cold initially because of this. I can assure you, I am far from that!
7. If you had a time machine, will you travel to the past or the future?
Definitely the future. Our time is limited, seeing what mankind is capable of achieving in the past twenty years, how our lives have changed over the years made me wonder what the future holds. The past is already set in stone whereas the future is full of surprises. Although going back to the past to revisit lost loved ones would be nice.
8. Give us a brief history of your career in the industry. How do you keep yourself productive at work?
I started out in Jobstreet.com, it gave me a preview into online business and reinforced my decision to go into this industry, one can’t go through the day without going online and I thought it’s a good place to start.
Coffee coupled with classical music by Rachmaninoff helps in productivity/concentration.
9. What is your secret in making sure that each of your accounts are well managed?
Does thinking about your to-do list while commuting to work count as a secret?
10. What do you love about OOm?
The culture here is a huge plus. Being able to be myself at work and not having to deal with office politics keeps the blues away on Mondays every week.
Beer at my desk? Heaven for a nonconformist like me.
